Gymscle vs Strong

Strong is the long-running simple logger: workouts, templates, CSV export, on iPhone, Android and Apple Watch, free with a PRO tier. Gymscle covers the same logging and adds built-in programs, a plan generator, progress photos and body tracking, all free, with no account and nothing stored on anyone's server. The question is whether you want a logger or a plan-first tracker, and whether you want an account at all.

Pick Strong if

  • You train on Android, or share a log between an iPhone and an Android phone.
  • You want the plainest possible logger with a decade of history behind it, and three templates are enough.
  • Your iPhone cannot run iOS 26.

Pick Gymscle if

  • You want built-in programs and a generator, not only blank templates, and you want unlimited plans without paying.
  • You do not want to create an account to log a workout.
  • You want the plate calculator, body measurements, charts and progress photos included rather than behind PRO.
  • You train in Polish, or want the exercise library in both English and Polish.

Switching between them

History cannot be moved in either direction. Strong does not import CSV at all, and Gymscle imports only its own backup files and plan codes. Gymscle does export a Strong-format CSV, which spreadsheets and trackers such as Hevy can read. Plans you can rebuild in Gymscle from the 62 built-in programs, generate in five questions, or scan from a photo or PDF.

Questions

Is Strong free?
Yes, with limits. The free version saves unlimited workouts but allows three custom templates. Strong PRO at $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year removes the limit and adds body measurements, charts and the calculators. Gymscle includes all of that for free.
Does Strong require an account?
Yes. Strong asks every user to sign up before using the app. Gymscle has no accounts; data stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
Can I import my Strong history into Gymscle?
No. Gymscle imports its own backup files and plan codes, not CSV. Gymscle does export in Strong's CSV format, which spreadsheets and other trackers can read.
Which one has built-in programs?
Gymscle. It ships 62 programs, among them Texas Method, GZCLP, 5/3/1, several PPL splits and calisthenics routines, plus a generator that builds a plan from your goal, days, equipment and level. Strong gives you templates you fill in yourself.
